Let’s discuss your dog's training needs and find the right program.
Dog Training That Works in Real Life
Training a dog in a controlled environment is only one part of the process. The real test is whether your dog can listen and behave appropriately when distractions, excitement, people, animals, and unfamiliar environments are present.
Pittsboro offers a mix of neighborhoods, rural properties, local businesses, parks, and access to surrounding Triangle communities. Dogs living in the area may encounter a wide variety of environments, which makes practical obedience and reliable communication especially important.
Our training can help address:
Leash pulling
Jumping on people
Poor impulse control
Excessive excitement
Recall problems
Basic obedience
Advanced obedience
Off-leash obedience
Reactivity toward dogs or people
Difficulty settling
Disobedience around distractions
Puppy behavior
More serious behavioral issues
Balanced Dog Training in Pittsboro, NC
At Tellez K9 Dog Training, we believe dogs learn best when they receive clear communication and consistent expectations.
Our balanced approach uses rewards and reinforcement to encourage correct behavior while also using appropriate consequences when a dog makes the wrong choice. Training is customized around the individual dog rather than forcing every dog through the exact same system.
Some dogs need more motivation. Others need more structure. Some need help overcoming distractions, while others first need a stronger obedience foundation.
Our goal is to determine what your dog needs and create a training plan that produces practical, lasting results.
Puppy Training in Pittsboro
Starting training early can help prevent many common problems from becoming long-term habits.
Our puppy training program in Pittsboro is designed to establish a strong foundation during your dog's early development. Training can include obedience, leash skills, engagement, boundaries, impulse control, house manners, and learning how to remain calm around distractions.
The goal is to build good habits early while teaching owners how to communicate effectively with their puppy.
A trained puppy is easier to manage, easier to live with, and better prepared for the challenges of adolescence and adulthood.
Obedience Training in Pittsboro, NC
Whether your dog is still learning the basics or needs a higher level of reliability, Tellez K9 offers structured obedience training designed to progress with the dog.
Training may include commands such as:
Heel • Sit • Down • Stay • Place • Recall • Come • Leave It
As training progresses, the focus shifts from simply performing commands to maintaining obedience around distractions and in everyday environments.
Our objective is to help owners develop a dog that understands expectations and responds consistently.

Off-Leash Dog Training in Pittsboro
Reliable off-leash obedience requires more than teaching a dog to come when called.
Dogs must learn to remain connected to their handler, respond to commands, control impulses, and maintain obedience when distractions are present.
Our off-leash training builds upon foundational obedience and gradually increases the difficulty of the environment and distractions.
The ultimate goal is greater freedom for the owner while maintaining control and communication with the dog.
Reactive Dog Training in Pittsboro, NC
Does your dog bark, lunge, pull, or become overly excited around other dogs or people?
Reactive behavior can make everyday activities frustrating and difficult. Training should focus not only on the behavior itself but also on obedience, communication, impulse control, and the owner's ability to effectively manage the dog.
Tellez K9 Dog Training provides individualized training for dogs struggling with reactivity and other difficult behaviors.
Every case is different, so training is adjusted according to the dog's temperament, history, triggers, and goals.
Aggressive Dog Training in Pittsboro
Dogs displaying aggressive or potentially dangerous behavior require a structured training plan and responsible handling.
Tellez K9 works with owners dealing with serious behavioral challenges by focusing on obedience, control, management, communication, and safer handling practices.
Behavior cases are evaluated individually to determine the appropriate approach for the dog and owner.
Board & Train Near Pittsboro, NC
For owners looking for an intensive training option, our Board & Train programs provide concentrated training in a structured environment.
Board & Train may be appropriate for owners who want an accelerated training foundation or who are struggling to make consistent progress on their own.
Depending on the dog's needs, training may focus on:
Basic and advanced obedience
Leash manners
Place training
Impulse control
Recall
Neutrality around distractions
General household obedience
Off-leash foundations
Owner participation remains an important part of the process. A dog may receive extensive training during a Board & Train program, but maintaining those behaviors at home requires consistency from the owner.
Private Dog Training for Pittsboro-Area Owners
Private training provides individualized instruction based on your dog's behavior and your specific goals.
Lessons can focus on obedience, leash walking, impulse control, household behavior, recall, distractions, and other areas that are important to your lifestyle.
Because every dog and household is different, private training allows the training plan to be adjusted according to what you and your dog actually need.
Why Choose Tellez K9 Dog Training?
Choosing a dog trainer is about more than teaching your dog a handful of commands.
The right training should give you better communication, better control, and a clearer understanding of how to work with your dog long after the training session ends.
Tellez K9 Dog Training focuses on practical, results-based training designed around the individual dog and owner.
Our approach emphasizes:
Clear communication
Your dog needs to understand what is expected.
Consistency
Training must continue beyond the lesson.
Real-world obedience
Commands should hold up outside of a controlled training environment.
Owner involvement
Owners need the knowledge and skills to maintain the results.
